2025 1st Prize Classical Sax: Hudson O’Reilly

Hudson O’Reilly is an emerging saxophonist from Wall, New Jersey. Currently a third-year undergraduate at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, he studies under Professor Taimur Sullivan. As an active member of the Northwestern Saxophone Studio, Hudson has premiered new works for saxophone with the Apricity Quartet, the Northwestern University Saxophone Ensemble, and in solo performances.

Hudson has earned recognition in several competitions, most recently being named a semi-finalist in the 2024 North American Saxophone Alliance Competition. He won second prize in the 2021 International Saxophone Academy’s Young Artist Competition, received an honorable mention in the 2023 International Saxophone Academy Grand Finals, and was named the Eastern United States alternate at the 2018 MTNA Woodwind Competition. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned artists such as Timothy McAllister, Nobuya Sugawa, Debra Richtmeyer, Susan Fancher, Asako Inoue, John Sampen, and flutist Jasmine Choi, among others.

Beyond performance, Hudson remains deeply engaged in the arts through his internships at the International Saxophone Academy and Sheldon Artists Management. He represented these organizations at the Midwest Arts Expo 2024 and at the 2023 North American Saxophone Alliance conference where he appeared as a vendor.
