2014 1st Prize Classical Saxophone: Sean Xue

seanxueSean Xue, a native of Shanghai, China, is currently pursuing a Master of Music Degree in Saxophone Performance and Literature at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studies with Dr. Otis Murphy. An active soloist and chamber musician, he has performed throughout the US, Europe and China. In the upcoming 2014 North America Saxophone Alliance in Champaign, Illinois, he was selected as a semi-finalist for both the Collegiate Solo Competition and the Quartet Competition.  He has won the First Prize of 2011 LISMA Foundation International Competition in Long Island, New York, and the Gold Prize of Shanghai Students’ Arts Festival Competition (2009). He received his Bachelor of Music with High Distinction and a Performer’s Certificate from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he performed regularly with Eastman Saxophone Project and Eastman Wind Ensemble. His past teachers include Chien-Kwan Lin and Jingli Hong.
