2019 1st Prize Classical Saxophone: Sean Miller

Sean Miller is a first year Master’s student studying Saxophone Performance under Dr. Kenneth Tse. Originally from Roseville Minnesota, he received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College, also in Saxophone Performance. He is a two-time state winner of Minnesota’s MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition and was a featured soloist on The St. Olaf Band’s tour to New Zealand and Australia in January 2018. Sean enjoys performing in a variety of ensembles on campus, including the University of Iowa Symphony Band, Johnson County Landmark, Area 51 Jazz Combo, and the RAHM Saxophone Quartet. When he isn’t in the music building, Sean enjoys going on long runs, watching Iowa football, and slinging spells with his friends Kamal and Wiatt. Sean hopes to a pursue a career in performing, perhaps through a military ensemble.
